Description
About this course:
Ten weeks course designed to strengthen math and reading fundamentals for students who require more reinforcement before entering a full TACHS course. Topic covered include arithmetic, fractions, decimals, reading comprehension, and basic grammar concepts.
This course is open to any 6th or 7th grader looking to prepare for the TACHS prep class or who simply want to strengthen their foundational skills.
In this 90-minute 10-week class, our experienced instructors will cover three key areas: reading, grammar, and math fundamentals.
Course Highlights:
Reading Mastery: Enhance your comprehension and critical thinking skills. We’ll explore a variety of texts, teach you how to identify main ideas, make inferences, and answer questions effectively.
Grammar: Build a solid foundation in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Learn how to express yourself clearly and concisely, a valuable skill for both the TACHS exam and future academic success.
Math Fundamentals: Strengthen your fundamental math skills: from basic operations to problem-solving strategies, you’ll gain the confidence and competence to tackle math questions with ease.
Each year we train over one hundred students for the TACHS exam. We are skilled to prepare all students: remedial students who may or may not have an IEP, general education students, and advanced students. We pride ourselves on the individual attention we give to ensure that each and every student is well prepared to achieve the goal of being offered a seat in the Catholic High School of his or her choice.
Students have received acceptances and scholarships to Catholic High Schools on Staten Island and Brooklyn. Part of Christine’s success is that her first three years as a teacher was spent in the Catholic School system. In fact, it was then that she first began prepping students for the TACHS test.
