About This Course:
The SHSAT Summer Intensive Skill Building workshop is designed to strengthen the Math and ELA skills students need for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT).
Through 32 hours of instruction across 16 sessions, students receive targeted instruction, guided practice, and feedback. The workshop focuses on reading comprehension, revising and editing, mathematical problem-solving, and test-taking strategies.
The course includes eight Math sessions (16 hours) and eight Verbal Skills (ELA) sessions (16 hours).
Verbal Skills:
Students strengthen reading comprehension, revising and editing skills through targeted instruction and guided practice. Lessons help students build stronger reading and language skills while receiving feedback to reinforce their understanding.
Math Skills:
Students develop mathematical problem-solving skills through structured instruction, guided practice, and targeted feedback. Lessons focus on strengthening mathematical understanding and applying problem-solving strategies.
Practice & Test-Taking Strategies:
Throughout the workshop, students participate in guided practice designed to reinforce Math and ELA skills. Instruction also addresses test-taking strategies to help students apply what they have learned.
Small-Group Instruction:
Classes are limited to a maximum of 15 students. The workshop combines targeted instruction, guided practice, and feedback to support student learning.
Course Materials:
All students receive a printed course workbook and access to an online test preparation platform. These resources support practice between classes and allow families to monitor progress.
