Meet Christine Carroll.
I am the founder and owner of Tutoring by Christine, a tutoring center that provides comprehensive academic support for students of all ages and ability levels. With over 30 years of experience in education, including a long career with the NYC Department of Education as a teacher and instructional coach. I bring deep expertise to my work. What began as tutoring in my home grew into a commercial space, weathered a pandemic shutdown, and expanded into a thriving academic support hub.
I began my teaching career in Catholic school, where I first prepared students for the TACHS and SAT exams. I later taught at a private high school and went on to serve as a public school educator, earning recognition as a Senator Lanza Teacher of the Year. Throughout my career, I held leadership roles such as lead teacher for the NYC Urban Advantage program and worked as an adjunct professor teaching education courses at the college level. Although I have retired from those positions, I continue to use that experience to guide and train my tutoring team.
I hold an EdS degree in Educational Leadership and am trained in the Orton-Gillingham methodology, a structured, multi-sensory approach that supports students with dyslexia and other language-based learning challenges.
I am a founding member of the National Test Prep Association and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Learning Disabilities Association of America, and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce.
I remain deeply connected to my community. As a local church parishioner, I regularly volunteer and lead an annual backpack drive for homeless students on Staten Island. I am committed to providing high-quality tutoring services and firmly believe every student can succeed with the right support and encouragement.
