Meet Christine Carroll.
Christine is the founder and owner of Tutoring by Christine, a tutoring center that offers comprehensive academic support for students of all ages and ability levels. With over 30 years of experience in education—including a long career with the NYC Department of Education as a teacher and instructional coach—Christine brings deep expertise to her work. Her business grew from her home into a commercial space, surviving a pandemic shutdown and expanding into a thriving academic support hub.
Christine began her teaching career in Catholic school, where she first prepared students for the TACHS and SAT exams. She went on to teach at a private high school and later served as a public school educator, earning recognition as a Senator Lanza Teacher of the Year. Over the years, she held leadership roles such as lead teacher for the NYC Urban Advantage program and worked as an adjunct professor, teaching education courses at the college level. While she has since retired from those positions, she continues to use that experience to guide and train her tutoring team.
Christine holds an EdS degree in Educational Leadership and is trained in the Orton-Gillingham methodology, a structured, multi-sensory approach designed to support students with dyslexia and other language-based learning challenges.
She is a founding member of the National Test Prep Association and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Learning Disabilities Association of America, and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce.
Christine remains deeply connected to her community. As a local church parishioner, she regularly volunteers and leads an annual backpack drive for homeless students on Staten Island. She is committed to offering high-quality tutoring services and believes every student can succeed with the proper support and encouragement.
